| This seems kind of juvenile, but I think it is important for all our members to know:
You should have AT LEAST 100 scouts in each of your villages or at least one village with 1,000. It of course protects your village from being scouted, but it also sends a strong message when an attacker tries to scout you and all they get is dead scouts.
Sorry if this seems stupid/not important/juvenile, but it seems that some members do not really have scouts in their villages and they are very necessary!

| 20 scouts is enough for detection purposes. 10-15 is ok. Less than 10 is bad.
100 scouts is a serious drain on crop.
Anyone sending more than 10 scouts typically will send 500-2000, which will not be stopped by 100 scouts.
Also remember that upgrading scouts in ARMOURY will significantly improve their defense ability against enemy scouts. Upgrading scouts in BLACKSMITH will significantly improve their ability to scout enemy villages. So, scouts are one of the ONLY troops that should be upgraded in both blacksmith and armoury.

| So what is it then? Build 15-20 scouts per village, and one village with tons for serious scouting? Or not waste resources/crop building more than 20 per village? Because if someone scouts you with 500-2000, that means they obviously built that many in one village.
Or should you leave scouting to designated members of the alliance, and keep only enough to defend your village against detection? That's what I do, most villages with 15-20 (maybe 50, depends on who is around my village), and maybe one village with a few hundred.

| I think you leave serious scoutings to the bigger players, maybe 100 is a little overboard, but I think you should keep 20 in every village...personally...i like t have near 1,000 all together so that basically no player can scout me...also they are upgraded which is important | |

| i think 100 in each willage is better. because many times ppl attck with 50 scouts or so beacuse they dont know thye can do the same with 20.
i used to have like 200-300 scouts in all villages at all times because it was important for me never to get scouted. i never had any deff and i didnt want anyone to know that and also i had chiefs in most of my villages and i definitly didnt want anyone to know that. also i wanst an idiot and made 300 scouts in each village. i made like 3000 in one village and reinforced other villages that way i only payed for upgrades in one village for scouts.
if u want never to get scouted u go with the 100 scouts per village. if u want to know every time ure scouted but u dont care if "scouter" gets the report then u go with 20-30 scouts per village.

| I don't like the Idea or no defense and lot of scouts there are many freaks here who just raid without scouting and if they are scouting and get no info they just send their hammer to find what is there in the village. | |

| Thanks for the info. I have been wondering how the scout vs scout defense thing worked, and whether I had wasted my time upgrading armour for the scouts or not. I still don't know how they compare the numbers, since the scouts have "0" attack. I usually ran 150 - 165 Pathfinders in a village with 2000 - 2500 troops, and kept that ratio for other sizes. Only a couple of times was I scouted with 200 +, and those were from people big enough that they would scout with a hammer if they were that interested. I couldn't really tell if the armour upgrade was helping when the 100 scout attempts died. Does that also mean that Teuton Scouts are half as effective in scout defense as the others? I was working an idea now that has Teutons providing scouts for scout defense in the villages, for less crop use, while the Romans & Gauls kept the active scouts, but if the Teuton Scouts are onl;y half as effective, there is no saving. | |

| Scouts are very important for attack and deffense. i previous s8 i had just one village with around 6000 scouts upgraded to level 20 armory and blacksmith. I was sending them over to every player who needs them. Here is one of my scouting report http://pl.travianreports.com/?img=06/xjjkeNh.png | |

| Fully upgraded scouts is a must. I ran one main pathfinder village last server with 20/20. Had a nearby cropper to store extra's in... I never had more than 4k total though... those things are expensive on crop, but I loved their speed. | |
